Offered here is a near perfect reproduction of the U.S. Military M40 Sniper Rifle built around a Remington Model 700 action. The consignor attributes the work to Mike Lau of Texas Brigade Armory, c.1998. Lau's masterpiece accurately reproduces the smallest details associated with the M40 to include the stripper clip guide and a serial number that correctly falls into the mid-220,000 serial number range of known original M40s. The barrel lacks sights, and the scarce vintage Redfield 1" 3-9x scope, which is the correct type of scope used on USMC M20s, is installed on a Redfield "R" marked and matching numbered base with a set of twist-off rings. The turned bolt is also numbered to the gun. Mounted on a smooth pistol grip stock, with a raised right handed cheekpiece, green canvas sling and a checkered buttplate.
