Excellent World War I U.S. Colt Model 1917 Double Action Revolver with Colt Manual and Provenance

According to an included consignor note, this revolver was the property of one R.E. Tool, an Iowan banker and president of the Farmers and Merchants Savings Bank of Manchester, Iowa. Tool reportedly acquired the revolver in 1918 (likely as U.S. war surplus), and retained it until 1993. Fixed sights, with "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" on the underside of the barrel, "eagle head/S20" on the left side of the frame, and the model marking on the butt, along with the traditional Colt markings. Matching assembly numbers are present on the frame and crane. Included with lot is a vintage Colt revolver handbook for the Model 1917.

ConditionExcellent, with 98% plus of the original blue finish, showing some light spotting and traces of white paint on the hammer and mild handling marks overall. The grips are excellent, with some light dings. The handbook is very good, with some scuffs and stains on the cover. Mechanically excellent.
