Operating out of his home workshop in California, John Martz is best known for his alterations and upgrades of Luger and P-38 pistols, all of which are performed by him and often take several months of work. Working with all manner of military, police and commercial Lugers as a base, the Baby Luger features a short barrel, in conjunction with a frame that has been cut and reshaped to give the signature Luger grip profile in a more compact form. This particular Baby draws components from a Luftwaffe contract Heinrich Krieghoff & Company Luger, one of the less common Nazi military variants and rarely seen in Martz's work. Blade front and notch rear sights, with a blank chamber, a struck out and restamped "droop wing eagle/2" proof on the breechblock, and the Krieghoff "H(anchor)K" logo on the front toggle link. The "droop eagle/2" is repeated on the toggle links, with "JVM" and "160" in ovals on the frame beneath the side plate. Fitted with a set of checkered fancy walnut grips and two matte gray finished nickel base magazines, both shortened to match the frame and marked "1/JVM" and "2/JVM" on the bases.

Near mint, with 98% plus quality rust blue finish, showing some light handling marks overall, bright straw and niter blue finish on the small components, and attractive color and sharp grain on the grips. A few patches of rough spotting are present on the "2" magazine. Mechanically excellent.
