Operating out of his home workshop in California, John Martz is best known for his alterations and upgrades of Luger and P-38 pistols, all of which were performed by him and often took several months of work. Manufactured using a combination of new-made components and vintage Luger parts, this pistol takes the overall form and configuration of a post-World War I commercial-pattern Luger, up-sizes it to run the 45 ACP cartridge, and integrates the Martz Safe Toggle Release mechanism, which converts the safety switch into a dual purpose safety and toggle release lever. Blade front and fixed notch rear sights, with a blank "crown/N" proofed chamber, "JVM" toggle link and "GERMANY" marked extension, with "45 A C P" on the underside of the barrel, "JVM" and "46" beneath the side plate, the "MSTR" mark on the left frame rail, and a fine finish with straw and niter blue small parts. Fitted with a pair of smooth bordered checkered walnut grips, and one custom bright steel 45 ACP magazine with "1/JVM" marked hardwood base.

Near mint, with 98% plus quality blue finish, showing some light edge wear and handling marks overall. Bright color is present on the small parts, and the near mint grips are sharply checkered with fine grain. Mechanically excellent.
