Operating out of his home workshop in California, John Martz is best known for his alterations and upgrades of Luger and P-38 pistols, all of which were performed by him and often took several months of work. This particular "Baby Luger" was made chiefly using components from a World War II Mauser "42" code Luger manufactured in 1939, with the barrel and grip frame of the pistol shortened in a professional and artful manner, maintaining the unique Luger profile in a more handy size, and even retaining the stock lug, and integrating the Martz Safe Toggle Release system. Blade front and notch rear sights, with "1939" on the chamber, "42" on the toggle, "eagle/355" and "eagle/swastika" proofs on the extension and toggle, "MSTR" on the left frame rail and "JVM" and "134" in ovals under the side plate. Grips are attractive checkered walnut with smooth borders. Three magazines are included, "eagle/37" proofed and "JVM" marked, matte gray finished and shortened to match the frame, two with alloy bases numbered "1" and "2", one with a fancy wood base numbered "2".

Near mint, with 98% plus quality custom blue finish, showing some minor handling marks overall. The wood is near mint, with sharp checkering and attractive grain. Mechanically excellent.
