Manufactured in 1881 and subsequently professionally engraved in the 20th/21st century. The engraving consists mostly of floral scrollwork on a punch dot background which covers 90% of the surfaces. The sides of the frame feature engraved game panel scenes, reminiscent of 19th Century example made by Colt for exhibition. The barrel has the one-line Hartford address marked on top and "COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER" etched on the left side inside an engraved oval border. The sides of the trigger guard have engraved star-burst patterns, and the hammer sides feature an engraved wolf head. The left side of the frame has the three-line, three patent dates marking, and the left trigger guard shoulder is marked "44 CAL." The cylinder pin, screw heads and trigger are nitre blue. Matching numbers are found on the cylinder, frame and both grip straps.

Extremely fine as professionally embellished. The revolver retains 99% plus of the satin nickel plating and nitre blue finish showing the slightest handling marks. The slightly underside grip has crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
