Documented John Schultz Master Engraved Black Powder Colt Single Action Army Revolver

Manufactured in 1876 and subsequently embellished by Master Engraver John Schultz. The two accompanying 2002 dated letters from Schultz verifies that he rebuilt the action, engraved the gun with three quarter coverage in a Helfrecht style and made the one-piece grip. This fantastic engraving mostly consists of floral scrollwork on a punch dot background. The revolver features a style of nickel-plating that was used at the Colt factory in the 1880s. The small parts are fire blue. An included third letter from Schultz provides a synopsis of his career as a master engraver who has been called upon by the Colt Custom Shop to engraved Colt firearms and to make grips, assisted in the design of the Colt Cowboy Model revolver and engraved guns for EMF and other companies specializing in reproduction firearms. The loading gate on this revolver is marked "FC" for Frontier Classics.

ConditionExtremely fine as embellished by Master Engraver John Schultz. The revolver retains 99% plus of the respective finishes showing a light cylinder drag line. The grip is near new showing the slightest handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
