Documented Rudy Marek Master Engraved Colt First Generation Single Action Army Revolver with Case

Manufactured in 1933 and subsequently engraved by Master Engraver Rudy Marek of Banks, Oregon. A copy of a 1977 dated Heritage Gun Room receipt identifies this revolver as having been engraved by Rudy Marek, circa 1967, whose engravings were shown in a 1966 issue of Gun Digest. A part time lawman and engraver, Rudy Marek got his start on jewelry in the 1940s and received training from Suhl-trained independent engraver, Arnold Griebel in the 1950s, and would sign on with Colt as a factory engraver in the 1960s. This near full coverage engraving consists of floral scrollwork with oak leaf accents on a matte background. The barrel has the one-line address on top and "COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY .45" on the left side. The left side of the frame has the two-line patent date marking and Rampant Colt. Matching serial numbers are on the frame, both grip straps and cylinder (37). Comes with a case holding 50 .45 Long Colt cartridges.

ConditionExtremely fine as custom embellished by Master Engraver Rudy Marek. The revolver retains 99% of the blue finish and case colors showing slight loss at the muzzle and traces of a cylinder drag line. The grips are excellent showing a few typical fine age cracks. Mechanically excellent. The case is very fine showing some minor wear overall
