Description:

These so called "Model 1890" carbines are actually Model 1873, 1877, and 1884 carbines that were altered by fitting front sight protectors and fitting a special barrel band that cradles the top of the rear sight latter and protects it from snagging or being struck. This example is a Model 1884 and has the standard Model 1884/1890 features. A two-piece cleaning rod and ruptured case tool are in the butt. Provenance: Bruce Canfield collection.

Rating Definition:

Good with dark brown patina, minor oxidation, some light pitting, and various dings and scratches. The trigger guard has 75% original blue finish. The re-oiled stock has some scrapes and dings, no visible cartouche, hairline cracks on the left flat and right side of the wrist, and some small chips. Mechanically fine.
