Fixed blade front and "C" marked adjustable Model 1877 carbine rear sight graduated to "12" on the ladder and from 1-6 on the left side of the base. There is a single "L" mark on top of the barrel at the breech. The breechblock is marked "MODEL/1873/eagle/U.S." and the lock plate is marked "U.S./SPRINGFIELD/1873" followed by the eagle and shield stamp. Checkered hammer with a three tumbler lock. Short carbine stock with a single barrel band, sling bar and ring on the left side, circled script "P" on the underside of the wrist, "SPF D69" marking on the left side of the butt, and a curved steel buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Fine as arsenal refurbished with a mostly brown patina on the barrel under a thin coat of protective varnish with scattered light pitting and small dings. The breechblock has muted case colors, and small nicks and dings. The stock is also fine with numerous small dings throughout, light chipping around the lock plate, and some deeper dents on the forend. Mechanically excellent.
