Description:

The Springfield Krag-Jorgensen rifles were among the main weapons used during the Spanish-American War in 1898, the Philippine-American War in 1899-1902, and Moro Rebellion 1899-1913. The high reloading time compared to the clip fed Mauser rifles used by Spain led to their replacement with the Mauser inspired Springfield Model 1903. This one has a "JSA/1896" dated cartouche, standard marking and features, an "1894" dated "US" knife bayonet, and a steel scabbard with belt hook.

Rating Definition:

Fine with brown patina mixed with 40% fading original finish, some light oxidation, mild edge wear, and scattered minor marks. The wood is also fine and has some minor nicks, scratches, and bruises and a crisp cartouche. Mechanically excellent. The bayonet is very good and has moderate wear and light pitting. The scabbard is fine with most of the original blue and a spot of cold blue touch-up near throat.
