Manufactured circa 1875-1885. Browned twist barrels, raised rib bearing a bead front sight, 2 ½ inch chambers, cylinder bore in each, casehardened action and back action locks and flat fronted trigger-guard each with gold inlaid border lines. Both locks are signed "A. CH. KEHLNER NEVEU F.BT D’ARMES A PRAGUE" in gold. Figured 14 inch walnut butt with raised cheekpiece and checkered grip, dark horn scrolled pistol grip finger rest, bright buttplate with gold inlaid border lines to the tang, and sling mounts. This gun bears Belgian provisional black powder proofmarks and the German crowned "V" Vorratszeichen mark denoting pre-1891 manufacture. Provenance: Property of a German Prince, great, great grandchild of Emperor Franz Josef I, Emperor of Austria and King of Hungary.
Fine. The barrels retaining 70% of the original browned finish which is wearing thin on the edges and showing some scattered corrosion spotting and general surface marking throughout (one spot polished bright on the right tube where a patch of deeper corrosion has been removed). Barrels are off the face. 70% of the original casehardened finish remains, and the gold border lines are complete throughout. Some metal elements polished bright including the underlever and the buttplate. Some scattered surface corrosion marking throughout. Butt is in good condition with minor storage and handling markings and sharp checkering.
