Description:

This beautiful rifle was hand-crafted by contemporary artisan Gerald Neaves as a fully functional miniature with all of the trappings of a full size rifle. Neaves even crafted the majority of the tools necessary for building his miniatures. It has blade and notch sights, "G. Neaves" in script signed on the silver inscription panel on the top of the barrel, unmarked lock, double set triggers, silver inlays including an eagle patch box finial, and an incredibly tightly curled piece of curly maple whose figure even appears to be miniaturized for the stock which has fine carving. The overall length is just 23 inches. It comes in a custom display case with a miniature rifleman's possible bag and powder horn. One of the placards in the case has the maker's first initial wrong.

Rating Definition:

Very fine as custom made overall with nearly all of the brown finish, minor edge and handling wear, aged patina on the silver and brass, and slight marks on the stock. The lock and set triggers are functional but do not always lock up properly. The case and other items are all fine. This is definitely a fine display and conversation piece.
