Manufactured in 1934. The rifle is in a scarce .22 short configuration with an octagon barrel, which Winchester offered from 1932 to 1946. It has dovetailed blade front and elevation adjustable rear sights. The upper left barrel flat has the Winchester legend ending in "-.22 SHORT-," and the factory oval proof on the receiver and barrel. Mounted on a 11-groove forearm and smooth pistol grip stock with checkered steel buttplate.

Fine. The rifle retains 98% custom refinished blue finish showing limited minor cycling wear. The highly figured refinished wood is also fine showing limited minor pressure dents and retaining nearly all of the high gloss finish. Mechanically excellent. A representative early production Model 61 rifle with a .22 short octagon barrel that will be a great addition to a Winchester slide action collection.
