Manufactured circa 1942. Single steel bead sight on the four-hole heat shield/bayonet adaptor, 2 3/4 inch chamber, and a cylinder choke. The top of the barrel is marked with the U.S. (flaming bomb) proof followed by the Winchester oval "WP" proof at the breech. The right side of the receiver is marked with the "U.S. flaming bomb" roll mark. Full blue finish with the correct model marking on the barrel and matching serial numbers on the receiver and barrel collar. Mounted with an 18-groove round slide handle and smooth pistol grip stock with a green canvas sling, "GHD" cartouche over crossed cannons on the left side, and a solid Winchester buttplate. Length of pull is 13 3/4 inches. Includes a "W" marked Model 1917 bayonet (21 3/4" OAL, 17" blade, wood grips) with a leather and steel sheath.

Very good, with 30% of the faded blue finish, showing areas of gray patina, bright edge wear and light handling marks. The bayonet lug shows hints of a plum patina, and the heat shield shows some dents. A pair of non-factory drilled and tapped screw holes are present on top of the lug and on top of the receiver. The stock is fair as revarnished, with some dings and scratches. Some chipping is present on the bayonet grip panels, with a heavy protective coat of varnish on the metal. Mechanically fine.
