Documented U.S. Eddystone Model 1917 Bolt Action Rifle

Standard blade front and adjustable ladder/peep rear sights, with an "E/flaming bomb/11-18" marked barrel. The left side receiver rail is stamped with a single "flaming bomb" proof on the side "eagle head" proofs on top, and standard markings on the receiver ring. The bolt handle, safety, and bolt release are correctly stamped "E". The stock is stamped with a single "eagle head" proof ahead of the floor plate, and "3K/eagle head/O27" proof behind the trigger guard. With a flat steel trapdoor buttplate and khaki canvas sling. The rifle is pictured and identified by serial number on pages 77, 80, and 81 of "U.S. Infantry Weapons of the First World War" and page 275 of "U.S. Military Bolt Action Rifles" by Bruce N. Canfield. Provenance: Bruce Canfield collection.

ConditionVery fine. 85% arsenal dark parkerized finish remains with areas of edge wear, areas of a thinner gray patina, and scattered nicks and dings. The stock has a few deeper gouges, scattered small dings, and clear markings. Mechanically excellent.
