Description:

Manufactured in 1945. Standard blade and adjustable peep rear sights with the early style locking bar on the windage drum, Springfield "5 45" dated barrel, relief cut Springfield operating rod, and Springfield marked trigger housing, and hammer. Late/post-war birch wood GI stock and handguard set with the number "85" stenciled in white paint on the right side, and a checkered trapdoor buttplate. The included CMP bill of sale identifies the rifle by serial number and lists it as a "Service Grade". With CMP certificate of authenticity. Provenance: Bruce Canfield collection.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. 85% plus original parkerized finish remains with some edge wear, handling and cycling marks, surface scratches, and scattered dings. The later production replacement birch stock is also very fine with a few deeper dents and small dings scattered throughout. Mechanically excellent.
