Manufactured in 1999. These rifles were a sporting version of the original, full automatic H&K G36 rifle intended as the next generation of rifles after the H&K 93. They featured a steel barrel, bolt and bolt carrier with a fully enclosed synthetic outer chassis. The left side of the receiver and trigger group have the full Heckler & Koch factory markings, caliber and model number. These rifles use a short-stroke piston system with a round, rotating, multi-lugged bolt similar to the AR-15 and have an ambidextrous cocking handling on top of the receiver and a long carrying handle with a Picatinny rail type system on top of the handle for mounting scopes. It is fitted with a two leaf rear peep sight and hooded blade front sight, mounted on the rail and uses a proprietary single stack 10-round magazine. The stock has a screw adjustable cheekpiece.
