Operating out of his home workshop in California, John Martz is best known for his alterations and upgrades of Luger and P-38 pistols, all of which are performed by him and often take several months of work. Manufactured using a combination of new-made components and vintage Luger parts, this pistol takes the overall form and configuration of a World War I military-pattern Luger, up-sizes it to run the 45 ACP cartridge, and integrates the Martz Safe Toggle Release mechanism, which converts the safety switch into a dual purpose safety and toggle release lever. Blade front and fixed notch rear sights, with a blank "crown/N" proofed chamber, "JVM" toggle link and "GERMANY" marked frame, with "MARTZ/45 ACP" on the left side, "JVM" and "80" beneath the side plate, the "MSTR" mark on the left frame rail, and a full bright finish. Fitted with a pair of checkered grips, three bright steel 45 ACP magazines with "JVM" marked hardwood bases, and a walnut/stainless steel display stand.
Near mint as custom made, with 95% plus stainless finish, showing some light handling marks overall and a few small areas of spotting. A few hints of old straw color are present on the small parts, and the grips shows a few minor dings and handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
