Mounted on highly figured and checkered forearm and pistol grip stock. The buttstock has an ebony insert in the grip and a crescent buttplate. The left side of the lower tang is marked "942XXX." The stock inlet is marked "942." The buttplate is marked "0/980." In "The Winchester Book" author George Madis notes that deluxe low wall rifles were ordered less frequently than high wall rifles.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The barrel retains 50% faded original blue mostly thinning to a brown. The remaining surfaces retain 70% original case colors. The wood is fine with a small hairline crack near the upper tang, some minor dings and scratches and crisp checkering overall. Mechanically excellent.
