Manufactured in very limited quantities, the cutaway Persian Luger was part of a larger order of Lugers for Persia (modern Iran) to be delivered about 1935-1936. Made towards the beginning of the contract run, the cutaways were intended as training tools, allowing soldiers and armorers to see how the "guts" of the pistol interact while the weapon is in operation. Fixed sights, with a partial "G" date code on top of the chamber and a cutaway in the area of the front toggle link where the Mauser banner would be found. (This was a known procedure of Mauser to reuse rejected parts from the Nazi military contract pistols.) Matching numbers (in Persian) are present on multiple parts, including the magazine. Niter blue finished pins and springs, straw finished small parts, checkered hardwood grips and a nickel finished magazine. Relevant papers are included, with a photocopy of correspondence with Mauser, which states that 50 were made total as part of the Persian contract and a letter from the Beinfield/Lawman Gallery stating that this pistol was part of the collection of noted singer Mel Torme. Additionally, this pistol is mentioned by serial number on page 512 of "The Mauser Parabellum" and has a full page spread on page 48 of "The Lugers of Ralph Shattuck", which notes the gun as being part of both the Shattuck and Torme collections.

Excellent, with 98% original blue, showing some light scratches and dings overall. 95% plus of the bright original straw color remains. The grips are also excellent, with some shallow chips in the checkering, Mechanically excellent.
