Manufactured in 1861, the first year of production. The top of the barrel is marked "--ADDRESS COL SAML COLT NEW YORK U.S.AMERICA." and "COLTS/PATENT" on the left side of the frame. Fluted rebated cylinder marked "PAT SEPT. 10TH 1850" in one of the flutes. The left side trigger guard shoulder is marked "36 CAL>" with an "L" directly below that. The barrel and cylinder are blue, casehardened loading lever and frame and silver-plated brass back strap and trigger guard. Brass pin front and hammer notch rear sights, percussion cut-out with the capping groove and fitted with a checkered one-piece grip.
