Description:

Only 1,500 of these carbines are estimated to have been manufactured by Asa H. Waters of Millbury, Massachusetts, in 1855 and 1856. These Joslyn carbines were issued on a limited basis to Union volunteer cavalry regiments early in the Civil War. It has the standard markings and features including a faint cartouche above the side plate.

Rating Definition:

Fine with aged patina on the brass, traces of faded original blue finish mixed with brown and gray patina and some slight pitting along the barrel, gray patina on the balance, and general minor marks. The open "Monkey Tail" breechblock exposes most of the vibrant case colors on the internal mechanism. The refinished stock is very good and has only a few dings and scratches. Mechanically excellent.
