Description:

This is one of 60,000 New Model 1863 carbines manufactured for use during the Civil War and one of 27,000 Sharps carbines relined to .50 caliber and chambered for the .50-70 cartridge after the war for impending use in the Indian wars. It has the standard markings and features, including a "DFC" cartouche.

Rating Definition:

Very fine overall with 90% plus arsenal refurbished blue/casehardened finish, some light scratches and marks light surface oxidation, and some splotches of discoloration on the stock. The buttstock and forend are both excellent. Mechanically excellent.
