Description:

This is an exceptional pre-WWII Colt SAA manufactured in 1924. The included factory letter lists this revolver with a 5 1/2 inch barrel in .45 caliber, blue finish and type of stocks not listed when sold to Morgan White (address unavailable) and shipped to Bronson & Townsend Co., New Haven, Connecticut, on July 26, 1924. The barrel is marked with the one-line Hartford address on top and "45 COLT" on the left side. The left side of the frame is marked with the two-line patent dates following an uncircled Rampant Colt. The left side of the trigger guard has the number "3" and Colt triangle proof. It is fitted with its original checkered hard rubber grips with the Colt Rampant Horse in an oval at the top of each grip. Matching serial numbers are found on the frame, rear cylinder face (28), right side of the trigger guard and back strap and both grip panels. The assembly number "1148" appears on the loading gate and rear of the frame. Comes with the Colt black box numbered to the gun, "Special Instructions" and bore brush.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The revolver retains 98% original blue finish showing some light cycling marks on the cylinder and some minor thinning on the grip straps. 95% plus original case colors remain on the hammer and frame. The grips are also excellent with crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. The restored box is very good showing restoration of edges on the lid and retaining most of the end label. A high conditioned 1st generation SAA with original box that will make for a great addition to any Colt SAA revolver collection.
