Description:

Measuring 36 inches overall with a 25 inch blade, showing a fine wavy hamon and installed in a 'shin gunto' hilt. The saya is brown lacquer finished. A note tucked into the suspension band attributes the sword as brought back by Lieutenant Colonel Marlin Ramsey; records indicate a Marlin W. Ramsey of Williamstown, PA, as a multi-engine pilot with the Army Air Force, particularly active in the China-Burma-India Theater, where he performed "Hump" flights, resupplied and evacuated forward air bases and was also involved with the rescue of a group of American POWs who had been in the Shanghai Embassy when the war started.

Rating Definition:

Good. The very good blade shows some spotting and dark spots, along with a few light edge nicks. The hilt is missing its mekugi, but is stuck on the tang, preventing removal for inspection. Saya is fair.
