The makers records confirm that this rifle was completed in 1903 using an Anson & Deeley action and it is believed that this rifle was the second of three made on this particular type of action. Blacked tapering barrel with short flat at the breech signed "W.J. JEFFERY & CO. 13. KING ST. ST. JAMES ST. LONDON. S.W." and engraved with a band of foliage, matted ramp mounted bead front sight and rear sight of one fixed and two folding leaves graduated from "50" to "200" yards. Casehardened box lock action signed "W.J. JEFFERY" on each side and with removable striker disc, bolstered fences, automatic safety with gold inlaid "SAFE" and blued floor plate. Casehardened trigger plate and pistol grip cap, and blued push forward underlever. Figured 14 1/4 inch pistol grip stock including 5/8 inch rubber recoil pad, and checkered grip and forearm. The underside of the butt has a vacant silver escutcheon, two iron sling eyes, and best quality border and scroll engraving throughout. Weight: 13 lbs. 9 oz., London nitro proof marks for 100 grs Cordite and 900 grs bullet.
