Manufactured in the 1980s and subsequently embellished by Master Engraver Leonard Francolini. Francolini was a Master Engraver at the Colt factory before starting his business of only engraving exhibition guns. This revolver features a floral scroll engraving on a punch dot background accented with flush gold inlaid floral scrollwork and line borders. A leaf motif is engraved on the top strap. Francolini has signed his work on the crane. The cylinder pin, trigger and screw heads are niter blue, the hammer sides are polished, and the remaining surfaces are blue. Comes with the original Colt "wood grain" box.

Excellent as professionally embellished by Master Engraver Francolini. The revolver retains 99% plus of the blue finish with minimal minor handing marks. The grips are fine with a few minor-moderate pressure dents and crisp checkering overall. The action cycles properly, however, the ejector has been purposely modified to be non-functional. The box is showing some moderate corner wear. A highly attractive Colt Detective Special revolver embellished by a renowned Master Engraver, a welcome addition to any Colt DA collection.
