This is an early Colt Super Match, as manufactured in late 1934. Colt only produced approximately 5,000 of these specially fit and finished target grade pistols. The right side of the matching numbered slide is marked "SUPER MATCH/COLT SUPER 38/AUTOMATIC" followed by the Rampant Colt motif. The opposite side of the slide has Colt's two-line address markings of address above 1897-1913 patent dates in two lines. The upper left front of the trigger guard is marked with an "W" over the Colt "VP" (verified proof) inside a triangle, and the right side is marked "60". It has the early, fixed wide low profile front sight with the military style fixed and wide rear sight. It has the early blue barrel with the polished chamber, that is marked on the left side: "SUPER 38 AUTO", with SUPER MATCH" on the right side of the chamber area. It is fitted with the correct early checkered slide stop, thick thumb safety, wide spur hammer with borderless checkering, and the checkered arched mainspring housing. It comes with one half-tone blued magazine marked "COLT SUPER/38 AUTO" on the bottom. It is fitted with walnut grips with full length checkering on each side.

Very fine with 85% plus of the blued finish overall with general light wear on the edges and high spots, with some light scratches on the right side of the slide. The front grip strap shows slightly more wear and blue loss on the lower front section with a small dime areas of heavier horizontal marks in the metal where someone has been shooting it with a ring on. The grips are both in fine condition with nice sharp distinct checkering on both sides showing some minor handling marks. A really nice looking early Colt Super Match 38 Super pistol.
