Early Production Japanese Type 30 Arisaka Bolt Action Rifle with Siamese Markings

The standard infantry rifle of Imperial Japan from 1899 to around 1905 when the more modern Type 38 was introduced. This early pre-production model features the standard inverted V blade type front sight and a V notch rear on a folding ladder graduated to 1,900 yards with a 2,000 yard top notch. The receiver is correctly unserialized and features the imperial mum and "Type 30" markings on top of the front ring as well as a small "spiral" floral stamp on the rear receiver bridge, which appears to be the crest of Siam; potentially a sale or exchange from surplus after the Type 38 was introduced. No wrist tangs are installed on the receiver or trigger guard; this would be added to later Type 30 rifles and remain through the end of production on the Type 99 rifle. Fitted with a smooth pistol grip stock.

ConditionVery fine with 85% plus arsenal blue finish, showing light handling marks and heavy storage grease overall. The stock is fine with a number of dents and dings. Mechanically fine.
