Almost the entire left side of the rifle is cut away. Although the left side of the receiver is marked "MLE 1907-15", this is actually a Model 1916 with the extended magazine and cover over the ejection slot. The rear barrel band was reversed to show all of the features on one side of the gun. The lower half of the buttstock has been replaced and the buttplate, rear swivel and screws are missing.

Fair condition when it was cutaway, possibly by a arsenal there is heavy pitting under the black finish. The stock is missing a large chip at the upper buttplate screw. The replaced wood at the butt is incorrect and the holes do not match.
