Desirable 1832 Dated Simeon North U.S. Contract Model 1819 Hall Breech Loading Flintlock Rifle

The Model 1819 rifle designed by John H. Hall is a historically significant weapon. It was the first breech loading firearm adopted as a regulation arm and the first firearm successfully produced with completely interchangeable parts. The Hall rifles were primarily manufactured at Harpers Ferry Armory under Hall's direction with help from machinery designed and setup by Simeon North of Middletown, Connecticut. After Hall's patent expired in early 1827, North manufactured 5,700 of these rifles in Connecticut. It has the standard markings and features.

ConditionVery Fine with 75% plus of the original brown finish, traces of original case colors, some light oxidation, and some mild pitting concentrated at the muzzle. The stock is good and has smooth oiled finish, a crudely repaired crack/large chip visible at the top of the wrist at the junction with the action, and otherwise only minor storage type wear. Mechanically excellent. Overall a very well-maintained example of the historic Model 1819 Hall.
