Description:

The Hall rifles and carbines were among the most advanced firearms in the world and were issued to U.S. soldiers at a time when muzzle loading firearms were still the standard. Only 2,020 of these Model 1836 carbines were manufactured in 1837 to 1840. They were used by the 2nd U.S. Dragoons in the Seminole Wars, the longest and most expensive Indian conflict in U.S. history. Some were also used during the Civil War. This example is dated "1839" on the breechblock and has standard markings and features including a sliding triangular "ramrod" bayonet. The Model 1833 and 1836 carbines were the first percussion arms adopted by the U.S. military and the first to use the ramrod bayonet.

Rating Definition:

Fine overall with 40% plus of the original brown lacquer finish, traces of original case colors, brown patina on the balance, mild oxidation, and general mild wear including some small chips on the otherwise fine stock. Mechanically excellent.
