Description:

Both date from 1840-1860 and have knight head pommels, 31 1/4 inch long blades with etching and central fullers and etched Ames markings on the ricassos, and engraved brass scabbards. 1) Spread wing eagle and shield guard and grooved bone grip. 2) Star pattern guard and mother of pearl grip scales.

Rating Definition:

1) Very good with traces of the original gilt finish, mild patina, distinct etching and hilt designs, light spotting, minor chips on the grip, somewhat loose fit, and mild overall wear. 2) Fine with light patina on the otherwise mostly bright blade, crisp etching and designs, patches of original gilt finish, dark aged patina on the brass hilt and scabbard, a few dents on the scabbard, absent chain guard, some flaking/chipping on the scales, loose scabbard mouthpiece, and solid fit on the sword.
