Manufactured in 1883 for the U.S. Government. The barrel has the one-line address, the frame has the three-line patent dates followed by "US," and the David F. Clark sub-inspection "DFC" stamp is located on the underside of the barrel, bottom of the frame, and side of the cylinder. A "P" proofmark is stamped on the underside of the matching number barrel in front of the sub-inspection mark and on the side of the cylinder. Matching numbers are found on the frame, trigger guard, back strap, barre, and cylinder. The loading gate has the assembly number "4828." Script letter cartouches (faint) are stamped on each side of the grip, and the date "1883" is stamped on the left side of the grip.

Rating Definition:

Very good plus. The revolver has a mottled gray patina with strong traces of original blue finish and vivid case colors remaining in some of the protected areas of the forward. There is some minor pitting. The grip is fair with faint cartouche visible with warping at the bottom, some surface chipping, some high edge wear and some minor handling marks. There are two long scratches on the left side of the grip. Mechanically excellent.
