Introduced in 1910 and manufactured until 1932. A sliding button on right side of receiver permits the gun to be opened while a cartridge is in the chamber. Dovetailed beaded blade front and elevation adjustable rear sights, standard Marlin markings, 9 groove forearm and smooth straight grip stock. The left side and top of the receiver and upper tang are factory tapped for sight/scope mounting. Chambered for the .25-20 Marlin cartridge that Marlin first introduced on their Model 1894 rifles. The serial number is marked on the left side of the lower tang, stock tang cut-out and back of the buttplate.

Excellent. The rifle retains 90% plus bright original blue finish with the balance a smooth gray patina. There is some minor spotting mostly near the muzzle. The wood is very fine with some minor dings and scratches and retains most of the original finish. Mechanically excellent. High conditioned Model 27S rifles are difficult to find.
