Description:

The Colt Third Model Dragoon Revolver was manufactured from around 1851 to 1861 and was the last of the large Colt "revolving horse pistols" that descended from famous Colt Walker and were replaced by the more streamlined Model 1860 Army. Many of these revolvers saw hard use by settlers and outlaws on the frontier and were also used by soldiers on both sides during the Civil War. Many were privately purchased civilian sales revolvers like this one. German silver blade front sight on barrel remarked, "ADDRESS SAML COLT NEW YORK CITY-" on top of the barrel, cylinder with the Texas Ranger and Indian scene and marked "MODEL U.S.M.R./14921" followed by "3" on its side above "COLTS PATENT," and matching serial numbers on the barrel, frame, trigger guard, back strap, cylinder, loading lever, wedge and arbor pin.

Rating Definition:

Very good as restored. The revolver retains a spotty artificial gray patina overall. Most of the re-rolled cylinder scene remains. The cylinder markings as listed above and the barrel address are remarked. The grip straps retain 95% replated silver plating. The replacement grip is fine with age cracking, a series of minor scratches (left side) and attractive color. Mechanically excellent.
