U.S. Army Smith & Wesson Model 1917 Double Action Revolver with Factory Letter

The accompanying factory letter indicates that the revolver was shipped on July 20, 1918, and delivered to U.S. Government, Springfield Armory, Springfield, MA. The revolver has standard S&W markings, "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" on the barrel underside and correct military inspection and proofmarks. Matching serial numbers are found on the butt, barrel, cylinder and right grip panel.

ConditionVery fine. The revolver retains 95% original blue finish with mild thinning on the grip straps and a few areas of pitting and spotting. Nearly 95% original case colors remain on the hammer and trigger. The grips are excellent with minimal minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
