Description:

Manufactured in 1914. Fixed sights, with the two-line, two-block address and patent markings on the left side of the slide, the Rampant Colt behind the serrations, and "MODEL OF 1911.U.S.ARMY" (serifed) on the right, with a "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" marked, "WGP" (Penfield) inspected frame. Fitted with a flat top rear sight, wide knurled hammer, long smooth trigger, short grip safety, flat lanyard staple magazine housing, checkered hardwood grips, unmarked two-tone pinned loop base magazine and a "P H" marked Colt barrel. The left grip panel has been stamped "3/INF NY" around the top screw; while there was a 3rd New York Infantry in existence during the Revolutionary War and Civil War, no record has been found of a 20th century 3rd New York, and no history or provenance was supplied with the pistol. Includes a brown leather holster marked "G.&K./1918/W.J.D." on the back and fitted with a belt loop.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, with 50% of the original blue finish, showing areas of bright gray patina on the grip straps, trigger guard, slide and high edges, a few light scratches and handling marks, and a small amount of spotting. The well worn grips are good, with replacement screws, some scratches and flat spots. The holster is very good, with wear visible around hanger, cracks and scuffs. Mechanically excellent.
