This is a very fine example of a late model Swedish Model 1896 sniper rifle manufactured by the Carl Gustav factory that was fitted with a short rail type M/42 scope. The top of the receiver is marked with a large "Crown C /CARL GUSTAFS STADS/GEVARSFAKTORI /1916". The left side of the receiver has been fitted with a unnumbered short side rail type base with only three screws (no taper pins or lock screws). The base is fitted with an original Swedish short side rail type mounted with a M42/AGA 3.x 65 scope. The front of the scope mount is numbered "1729" and so are both of the scope rings. It comes with an original set of leather scope caps. The rifle has all milled parts, barrel bands, trigger guard and floor plate with the matching serial number "031" along with a crown proof are visible on most parts. The rifle is equipped with a semi-hooded front sight and adjustable rear tangent style sight graduated from 3 to 6. The rifle has a full length military stock and short handguard with a smooth flat steel buttplate. The rifle comes with an original sniper scope case with a leather shoulder strap, a slotted cleaning rod, and a cleaning rod guide for the muzzle.
