Built on a pre-64 style controlled round feed action with the long Mauser style extractor and a tapered featherweight barrel manufactured without sights. The top of the receiver is factory drilled and tapped for scope bases with filler screws in place. Mounted on a fleur-de-lis checkered pistol grip stock with a contrasting wood forend cap, engraved blue steel grip cap, inset sling swivel eyes, and a plastic checkered buttplate. The rifle was designed as a tribute to noted outdoorsman, hunter, conservationist, and writer Jack O'Connor perhaps best known for his time as the shooting editor for "Outdoor Life" magazine. The rifle is chambered in .270 Winchester, Mr. O'Connor's favorite caliber. The floor plate is engraved with a bust of a bighorn sheep surrounded by oak leaf and acorn scroll, and the trigger guard features a silver inlaid reproduction of O'Connor's signature. Included is the original Winchester box.
