This revolver was manufactured in 1866 and appears to have originally been destined for sale in England given the "L" marking by the main serial numbers usually found on Colt London Agency shipped revolvers. It was apparently never shipped to the London Agency given the lack of British proofmarks. It has the New York address on the barrel rather than the Pall Mall address found on the London and Hartford-London Colts. Colt's office at 14 Pall Mall in London remained open until 1913, long after the failure of Colts London Armoury, in order to help Colt maintain their foot in the highly competitive European market. All of the serial numbers match aside from the grip which is numbered to another gun. It has a brass cone front sight, "-ADDRESS COL. SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA-" on the barrel, the standard roll-scene and patent markings, and "36 CAL" on the left side of the trigger guard. It comes in an English fitted hardwood case with a bore rod, four lead bullets, a spare nipple, L-shaped combination tool, iron Colt patent bullet mold, two Eley cap tins, and an bag shaped powder flask.

Very fine with 90% original vibrant case colors, 75% original bright high polish blue finish, most of the loss on the front strap, mottled gray and brown patina on the faded areas, light scratches from cleaning with an abrasive material, patches of mild pitting/oxidation, and general minor wear. The cylinder safety pins are complete. The grip is excellent and has some small dings and a few chips. Mechanically excellent. The case is fine and has a missing lock escutcheon and numerous scratches. The high polish Colt marked mold is also very fine with 75% original blue. This is a very rare variation and is in very strong condition with rich case colors and bright blue finish.
