Description:

The Pocket Navy or Pocket Model of Navy Caliber like the Model 1862 Police are based upon improved steels and the rebated cylinder design first used on Colt's Model 1860 Army revolvers. They offered more fire power while still remaining the same size as the popular Model 1849 Pocket. This one has the shortest standard barrel length, a small cone front sight, "ADDRESS COL SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA" on top of the barrel, COLTS/PATENT" marking on the left side of the frame, standard cylinder roll scene, "36 CAL" on the left side of the trigger guard, and all matching serial numbers including the grip. It comes in a hardwood case with English fitted interior along with an Eley Bros. cap tin marked "Made expressly for/COLT'S PT/Belt and Pocket/PISTOLS," Colt patent iron bullet mold, double-sided eagle powder flask, and key.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 80% plus bright original high polish blue finish and vivid case colors mostly smooth gray and brown patina on the balance of the steel, patches original silver plating on the trigger guard, butt, and top of the back strap with dark aged patina; mild aged patina on the exposed brass, worn but solid cylinder safety pins, distinct markings and cylinder scene, and minimal oxidation and slight pitting. The grip is also very fine with discoloration visible on the right at the junction with the frame, minor handling wear, most of the original varnished finish, and light scratches. Mechanically excellent. The relined, refinished case and accessories are very good with mild storage wear and some slight repairs on the case.
