Introduced in 1990, this is the commercial version of the Swiss army rifle as imported for only a short time before the 1994 Assault Weapon Ban. Blade front and adjustable drum rear sights with tritium night inserts, a birdcage style flash hider, and forearm mounted folding bipod. The receiver is fitted with an ambidextrous safety and has standard markings and Swiss proofs. Ribbed, ventilated synthetic forearm and pistol grip with a folding skeleton buttstock. With original foam box, extra magazine, sling, loading tool, and cleaning kit. Observed 550-2 SP rifles show an approximate starting serial number of "10000", placing this very early in the production run. An equally low numbered SIG 551-2 SP carbine, "60059", can be seen in Lot 1855; if acquired together they could make an interesting and rare SIG grouping.

Excellent. 99% original green finish remains with scattered light handling marks. The stock and grip set are also excellent with some light scratches. Mechanically excellent. Box is fair with storage and handling wear.
