This rifle's interesting serial number "200200" dates back to 1886, just a year after the rimfire Model 1873s were introduced in Winchester's catalogs. Only 19,552 total rimfire Model 1873s were manufactured before production ended in 1904. This example has a German silver blade front sight, adjustable sporting rear sight, standard markings including "22 CAL/SHORT" on the cartridge elevator, and a smooth stock and forearm. Aside from some small parts, it has a nickel-plated finish. The included Cody Firearms Records Office serial number confirmation lists this rifle with an octagon barrel in .22 caliber and plain trigger when received in the warehouse on April 6, 1886, and shipped on April 8.
Fine as period re-plated. 95% plus of the nickel plating remains. The small spots of flaking display gray patina. The wood is very good and has some handling and storage marks. The action functions fine, and the markings are legible.
