Description:

This is an exceptional example of a WWII 1944 production Springfield Armory M1C Sniper rifle that is fitted with a (non-matching) Griffin & Howe M1C scope mount and a late production M84 scope. It was completely rebuilt for the Korean War, and it currently has the late light gray parkerized finish and a birch stock and walnut handguards. The M84 scope bag is numbered "37221", and the Griffin & Howe mount is numbered "3516061". It is currently fitted with an unnumbered G&H replacement base, mounted on the side of the receiver. It does not have a rubber eye-piece. The rifle is currently fitted with a Korean War era Springfield Armory barrel marked "S A-1-51" that does not have the typical "P" proofs, and the rifle itself is fitted with a mix of WWII and post-war parts, to include the late production wide base gas cylinder, front sight, round top gas cylinder lock and four slot gas plug. The left side of the buttstock is stamped with a single boxed "SA" rebuild cartouche and a single circle "P" proof in the pistol grip area. This example comes with the following components: cheekpad, flash hider, web sling, scope case and cleaning kit. This example was sold via the CMP lottery in 1996, and it comes with its sales receipt and data sheet.

Rating Definition:

Exceptionally fine as arsenal refurbished showing no use after being rebuilt. The stock and handguards are both in very fine condition as arsenal refurbished with a clear sharp cartouche and proof. The various parts are still all stored in their vapor seal bags to include the scope.
