Rare Martially Inspected Civil War C.S. Pettengill Army Model Double Action Percussion Revolver

German silver cone front and groove rear sights, with "PETTENGILLS/PATENT 1856" on the right side of the sighting groove, "PATd JULY 22 1856/& JULY 27 1858" on the left and "PATENTED/NOV.4 1862" on the underside of the frame. The barrel, frame and cylinder are marked "WW", with "W" on the underside of the left grip and matching numbers on the cylinder, trigger guard, grips and butt. Smooth two piece grips, with a faint cartouche on the left panel. With notes from the estate of the collection dated 1969 stating this gun was purchased from William Locke in 1968.

ConditionVery good, with a mixed brown and gray patina overall, along with pitting and scattered handling marks. A few areas have a cleaned appearance. Grips are good, with dings, small cracks and varnish loss. Mechanically very good.
