Description:

This is the standardized contract type manufactured by E. Gwyn and A.C. Campbell's Cosmopolitan Arms Co. in Ohio c. 1859-1862. Only a total of around 1,200 of these carbines or Union Rifles were manufactured including the earlier variation with the double loop lever. The example has the standard contract model markings and features other than the mixed serial numbers and lack of visible inspection marks.

Rating Definition:

Good as assembled and refinished with smooth brown finish throughout, some obliterated or faint markings, minor wear, filing mark on the butt and buttplate at the heel, and a few dents and scratches in the sanded and re-oiled stock. Mechanically fine.
