Manufactured in the mid to late 1860s. The barrel has London proof and view marks on the left side, a brass cone front sight, and "ADDRESS COL. COLT LONDON" on top. There are also alternating London proof and view marks in the cylinder flutes. The frame has "COLTS/PATENT" on the left. "36 CAL" is on the left trigger guard shoulder. It has a deep high polish blue finish on the barrel and cylinder. The loading lever, hammer, and frame have been vibrantly color casehardened. The grip straps are silver plated. The grip is smooth walnut with a high polish varnished finish. The full matching serial number is marked on the barrel lug, wedge, frame, trigger guard, and butt, and the cylinder arbor pin, cylinder, and grip have matching partial serial numbers. An "L" for London is marked by the serial number on the butt. It comes in a scarce English fitted hardwood case with Colt directions label on the inside of the lid, bore rod, L-shaped combination tool, blued Colt patent bullet mold, oiler, key, large Eley Bros. cap tin marked for "COLT'S PT/Belt and Pocket/PISTOLS," exceedingly rare and correct Police/Navy James Dixon & Sons Colt pocket powder flask for .36 caliber gun (charger marked 4/8, 5/8 and 6/8 dram), and a 5 round package of combustible envelope cartridges.
