Class: Antique
Description:

Manufactured in 1863 at the height of the Civil War with standard markings and features along with single letter inspector marks on the barrel, replacement mismatched number (0641) martially inspected cylinder, and back strap, and faint cartouches on the grip, which is partially numbered to the gun ("0365"). Illegible initials scratched in butt. Only approximately 38,000 of these revolvers were manufactured, making it much more rare than the Model 1851 Navy. Given most were manufactured during the Civil War, it is particularly hard to find surviving examples with significant original finish.

Rating Definition:

Good as assembled mostly a smooth grey patina o9verall. The front and back straps are brass with a few small patches of age darkening. The undersize replacement re-oiled grips are moderately worn with faint visible cartouches and a few minor handling marks consistent with use. Mechanically excellent.
